AREVA Resources Canada Inc.

McClean Lake Mill

The AREVA operated McClean Lake mill is a unique facility – it is the most technologically advanced mill in the world for the processing of high-grade uranium ore without dilution. The McClean Lake mill opened in 1999 and underwent a period of care and maintenance from 2010 to 2014. In October, 2014, coinciding with our celebration of 50 years in Canada, the McClean Lake restart began with the processing of all ore from the newly opened Cigar Lake mine located 80 kilometres away. In 2015, during the first full year of production after its restart, the mill processed a record 11.3 million pounds of uranium concentrate.

Environmental Stewardship

Protecting the environment and people is a priority at AREVA. We are committed to responsible environmental stewardship throughout the life of our projects, from our exploration, to operation and decommissioning. This commitment relies on sound environmental studies and constant monitoring. Emissions from operations at the McClean Lake mill remain well below regulatory limits. AREVA also takes great care in managing the now decommissioned Cluff Lake mine in northwest Saskatchewan.
